Elephant Transit Home
The Udawalawe Elephant Transfer Home is a facility within Udawalawe National Park in Sri Lanka that was established in 1995 by the Sri Lanka Department of Wildlife Conservation. Its primary objective is to rehabilitate orphaned elephant calves for ultimate release back into the wild.
Udawalawe National Park
Udawalawe National Park lies on the boundary of Sabaragamuwa and Uva Provinces. The national park was created to provide a sanctuary for wild animals displaced by the construction of the Udawalawe Reservoir on the Walawe River, as well as to protect the catchment of the reservoir.
Sankhapala Temple
The Sankapala Raja Maha Viharaya is located in the Ratnapura District of Sabaragamuwa Province, Sri Lanka. According to rock inscription found here, the history of this temple goes back to the reign of King Dutugemunu (161-137 BC). The tomb of the giant Pussadeva is also nearby.
Wawulpane Cave
An impressive limestone cave located closer to Pallebadda in Rathnapura district. A water stream goes through the cave with slippery rocks and the poo of bats. If you need to go inside of the cave, it has to be done over that water stream. But you need to be very careful.
Maduwanwala Walawwa
Maduwanwela Walawwa is a Mansion located in upper South of Sri Lanka. During 1877-1905 period, the Mansion had 121 rooms, 21 inner courtyards (Meda Midula)[2] and 80 000 acres of land surrounding it, at present there are on 43 rooms left.
Hot Water Springs
Madunagala Hot Water Springs lie among vast paddy fields in Ridiyagama. The springs have bocome one of the most popular destinations for tourists. This was first founded by Leonard Woolf, the Assistant Government Agent of Hambanthota.
